The 2026 Launch That Moved the Line
Every few years, a vinyl release lands that quietly redraws what the category can do. Longboards Icons is that release for 2026. The category has been creeping toward photographic-grade realism for a decade, with better printing, more registered embossing, and deeper plank formats. Icons is the first time those pieces have arrived in the same product at the same time, in CALI's flagship plank dimensions, with the wear-layer and core spec to back it up. At a normal viewing distance, the visual tells that have historically separated vinyl from engineered hardwood are genuinely difficult to find. That is the headline.
The format is the rest of it. Every plank in Icons is 9 inches wide and 72 inches long, wider and longer than the existing Longboards line, and a full six feet per plank, which means fewer end joints across an installed floor and more continuous grain than almost anything else in the category. Add 14mm of overall plank thickness, a 22 mil commercial-grade wear layer, a WPC core for a softer feel underfoot than the rigid SPC vinyl most homeowners are familiar with, and a limited lifetime residential warranty, and the spec sheet starts to read like an engineered hardwood spec sheet rather than a vinyl one.
What follows is every active color in the collection: twelve floors, organized from the warm-tan center of the line, out through the blondes and honeys, into the browns, and across to the single gray. Each section covers what the color actually looks like in a real room, the design styles it suits, and the cabinetry and walls that pair with it. Icons is a step up from the existing Longboards line, but that does not make regular Longboards anything less than excellent flooring; if budget is the controlling factor, the core line remains a fully great choice. Icons is for the projects where the floor needs to read as close to real wood as the vinyl category currently allows.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Gray
Weathered Reef
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Weathered Reef is the lone gray in the Icons collection - and it does what the rest is doing in tan: pulls the family forward by a decade. This is not the cold, blue-gray that defined gray flooring through the 2010s. Weathered Reef runs warmer, with a greige-and-driftwood undertone that pairs with current furniture and current paint colors instead of fighting them. The grain has real legible grain rather than the abstract texture that defined the bad gray vinyl of the past, which is the single biggest tell that Icons is using a meaningfully better printing process than what came before.
Best For
Pacific Northwest and stormy-coastal interiors that want a warm-leaning gray with real depth - not the cold gray-blue of a decade ago.
Pairs Well With
Works with whitewashed shiplap, charcoal and slate walls, deep evergreen and navy cabinetry, matte black fixtures, weathered-driftwood furniture, and the cooler Pacific Northwest coastal palette that runs more dramatic than California coastal.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Tan
Sea Breeze Oak
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Sea Breeze Oak is the warm-tan anchor of Icons - a sandy, sun-touched oak that reads warm in every light without sliding toward yellow or orange. The new printing process shows here as well as anywhere: the graining carries soft chromatic variation plank to plank, with the kind of low-contrast grain that has historically separated real engineered hardwood from vinyl. Hold a sample at arm's length and the visual tell that gives most vinyl away - the repeating pattern, the flat color - is genuinely difficult to find.
Best For
Open-plan living rooms, sunlit kitchens, and modern coastal homes that want the most universally flattering tan.
Pairs Well With
Pairs cleanly with white shaker cabinetry, warm-stained oak, painted-sage millwork, brass and antique bronze fixtures, and the cream-and-linen palette that runs through current coastal interiors.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Tan
Soft Seaboard
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Soft Seaboard is the restrained, lower-saturation cousin of Sea Breeze Oak - a softer, more diffuse tan with the grain dialed back. Where Sea Breeze Oak has clearly-readable grain across each plank, Soft Seaboard leans more even, with character that emerges only when the light is right. That makes it one of the more flexible colors: it pairs as easily with crisp modern interiors as with traditional millwork, and it reads especially well in rooms with strong north-facing light where deeper grain can flatten out.
Best For
Quiet, refined interiors that want warmth without weight - the floor as a calm backdrop rather than a focal point.
Pairs Well With
Works beneath painted-white cabinetry, warm-greige walls, soft taupe upholstery, polished nickel hardware, and the kind of considered transitional palettes that prioritize calm over contrast.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Tan
Malibu Swell
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Malibu Swell is the brightest, most sun-bleached tan - a clean, slightly cooler take on the warm-coastal palette that defines this collection. The grain is legible without being heavy, which keeps the floor reading airy and open. This is the color that disappears into bright rooms in the best way: it never competes with the architecture, but it never looks like a flat beige floor either. Think of it as the floor you choose when the goal is light, not contrast.
Best For
Bright, breezy California-coastal homes that want a sun-washed tan with clean clarity.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with white-and-warm-wood kitchens, raw linen and natural-cotton upholstery, soft seafoam and sage accents, brass fixtures, and the bright-cottage palette of Southern California coastal interiors.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Tan
Silver Spray
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Silver Spray sits at the cooler edge of the tan family - a weathered, faintly silvered take on warm wood that picks up sea-air character without ever crossing into actual gray. The grain is more visible here than in Soft Seaboard, with plank-to-plank variation that reads as genuinely sun-and-salt-bleached rather than as a flat color choice. It is the color most often picked by homeowners who like the warmth of tan but want the floor to skew modern and a touch cooler.
Best For
Modern coastal interiors that want a warm-leaning tan with just a touch of cool, weathered character.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with whitewashed wood, soft bone and oyster walls, matte black fixtures, sea-glass blues and greens, weathered-driftwood furniture, and the kind of California coastal interior that runs cooler than it does golden.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Tan
Aerial Oak
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Aerial Oak is the most refined tan in the Icons line - a clean, mid-warmth oak with quietly-distributed grain and no obvious knots or burst grain. It is the color you reach for when the room needs to read calm and intentional, with the kind of consistent plank-to-plank tone that suits design-forward interiors. Where Sea Breeze Oak feels like a beach house, Aerial Oak feels like a city apartment with good bones - same warm family, more composure.
Best For
Refined transitional homes and design-led interiors that want a clean, slightly elevated take on warm tan.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with bone, fog, and warm-white walls, walnut-and-oak furniture, brushed brass hardware, performance-velvet upholstery, and the elevated transitional palette that has taken over high-end design publications.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Blonde
Fair Northshore
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Fair Northshore is the warm-blonde entry in Icons - a soft, pale oak with just enough golden undertone to read as genuine bleached wood rather than as cool, almost-white vinyl. This is the floor for rooms that want to feel airy and open without ever drifting toward the cold, gray-blonde look that dominated the late 2010s. The grain runs quiet across each plank, which keeps the overall floor reading as a calm, even backdrop while still carrying real wood character at close range.
Best For
Scandinavian-leaning interiors, bright kitchens, and modern coastal homes that want a pale floor with warmth still in it.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with white-painted millwork, light oak and natural-stained cabinetry, navy and sage walls, black-iron hardware, and the bright-but-warm palette that defines modern Cape Cod and Hamptons coastal interiors.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Blonde
Ivory Inlet
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Ivory Inlet is the palest floor in Icons - a creamy ivory blonde with a whisper of warm undertone keeping it from ever reading clinical. The careful balance most very-light floors miss is exactly what this one nails: the grain stays warm even as the overall plank reads near-white, which is what separates a floor that feels like real bleached wood from one that feels like a painted-on coating. It is the color you choose when the goal is genuinely bright rooms - not white-washed coastal, but actual brightness, with the floor pulled back from the conversation.
Best For
Gallery-bright interiors and beach houses that want the lightest possible floor without losing warmth.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with bright white walls, soft cream cabinetry, warm-wood furniture for contrast, antique brass, raw linen, and the very-light, very-airy coastal interiors that have replaced the cool-gray look entirely.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Honey
Knotted Nook
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Knotted Nook is the most characterful color in the Icons line - a warm honey oak with intentional knot detail and visible chromatic variation plank to plank. This is where the new Icons printing technology pays off most obviously: the knots read as actual knots rather than as the cartoonish dark blobs that have defined knot-printed vinyl for two decades. The base color is rich honey-amber, deep enough to anchor a room, warm enough to feel welcoming rather than orange.
Best For
Warm, characterful interiors - farmhouses, Craftsman homes, and any space that wants real honey-oak depth with visible knot character.
Pairs Well With
Pairs naturally with Mission-style trim, walnut and oak furniture, unpainted millwork, leaded-glass and antique-bronze accents, and warm wall colors in the cream-to-clay range that suit farmhouse and Craftsman interiors.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Warm Brown
Hang Ten Honey
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Hang Ten Honey is the mid-warmth bridge between the honey oaks and the deeper browns - a saturated honey-brown with enough warmth to anchor a room and enough range to work across a surprising span of design styles. The grain is more controlled than Knotted Nook, with grain that reads as continuous flowing oak rather than as scattered knot character. It is one of the most everyday-livable colors: deep enough to hide use, warm enough to feel inviting, refined enough not to demand attention.
Best For
Transitional and modern-coastal interiors that want a warm-honey brown without going as deep as walnut.
Pairs Well With
Pairs well with cream and bone walls, painted-sage or painted-navy cabinetry, leather furniture, oil-rubbed bronze and antique brass, and the warm transitional palette that suits both family homes and modern-coastal interiors.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Warm Brown
Cayucos Cave
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Cayucos Cave is the deepest color in the Icons line - a saturated, warm-leaning brown with real chromatic complexity in the grain. Where flat-dark vinyl tends to read as a single uniform tone across a finished floor, Cayucos Cave carries lighter golden strands running through the deeper base, which gives the installed floor visible movement and depth even in bright light. This is the floor for interiors that want the gravity of dark wood without losing the warmth that makes dark floors feel inviting rather than heavy.
Best For
Statement rooms, dark-cabinet kitchens, and interiors that want real chromatic depth without losing warmth.
Pairs Well With
Pairs with cream and warm-white walls, brass and gold fixtures, jewel-toned upholstery, painted-navy or painted-green cabinetry, and the considered, layered interiors that benefit from a dark anchor.
CALI Vinyl Longboards Icons · Brown
Beacons Bark
9″ × 72″ plank · 14mm overall thickness · 22 mil wear layer · WPC waterproof core
Beacons Bark is the weathered mid-brown in the Icons line - a tan-leaning brown with the kind of dry, sun-and-wind-touched character that suggests reclaimed wood rather than freshly-stained oak. The grain carries enough contrast between plank-to-plank tones to keep the floor reading as genuinely characterful rather than uniform. It anchors a room without going as dark as Cayucos Cave, which makes it the easier-to-live-with choice for rustic-modern, mountain-modern, and updated farmhouse interiors.
Best For
Rustic-modern living rooms, mountain homes, and interiors that want a substantial mid-brown floor with weathered character.
Pairs Well With
Pairs cleanly with cream and bone walls, navy or forest-green cabinetry, leather furniture, antique brass hardware, and the layered-rustic palette that defines mountain-modern and updated farmhouse design.
Longboards Icons FAQ
The questions homeowners ask when picking a Longboards Icons floor.
What is the difference between CALI Longboards and Longboards Icons?
Longboards and Longboards Icons share the same wide, long-plank DNA - both are 9" wide, both run dramatically longer than standard vinyl, and both come from CALI's flagship vinyl program. Icons is the 2026 step up: 72" planks (versus 70-and-7/8 on the core line), 14mm overall thickness, a 22 mil wear layer, WPC construction with a softer underfoot feel, and a refreshed color palette built around the latest printing technology. Visually, Icons reads cleaner at close range - the graining has less of the repeating-pattern tell that has historically given even good vinyl away. Longboards remains a fully great floor. Icons is the next step above it.
Is Longboards Icons worth the upgrade over regular Longboards?
It depends on the project. If you are renovating a single room and budget is the controlling factor, regular Longboards is still excellent flooring - same 9" width, lifetime residential warranty, waterproof core. If you are doing a whole-home renovation, a high-spec primary suite, or anywhere the floor needs to read close to engineered hardwood at close range, Icons is the upgrade that pays off. The thicker 14mm build, the 22 mil wear layer, the softer underfoot feel from the WPC core, and the meaningfully better print fidelity all add up. For homes where the floor is one of the most visible design decisions in the project, Icons is the right tier.
When did CALI launch Longboards Icons?
Longboards Icons is CALI's 2026 flagship release - the largest new vinyl introduction the brand has made in several years. It positions above the existing Longboards line as the new top-of-catalog luxury vinyl program, with twelve colors at launch covering tans, blondes, honeys, browns, and a single warm gray. Icons is sold through the same authorized dealer network as the rest of the CALI catalog, including online at Floorzi.
How wide and long are Longboards Icons planks?
9" wide by 72" long. That is the longest plank dimension in CALI's vinyl catalog and one of the longest available in the luxury vinyl category at any price. Longer planks mean fewer end joints across a finished floor, more continuous grain lines across a room, and an installed floor that reads closer to wide-plank engineered hardwood than to standard 48" vinyl. The width matches the rest of the Longboards program - 9" is meaningfully wider than the 6-to-7" standard that defines most of the LVP category.
What is the wear layer and thickness on Longboards Icons?
22 mil wear layer, 14mm overall plank thickness. The 22 mil wear layer is commercial-grade - among the thickest in the residential luxury vinyl category - and it is what allows CALI to back the line with a lifetime limited residential warranty. The 14mm overall thickness is unusually substantial for LVP and contributes to the firm-but-cushioned feel underfoot that distinguishes the Icons line from thinner-stock vinyl. Both numbers sit at the top of what the category currently offers.
Is Longboards Icons waterproof?
Yes - Icons is built on a WPC (wood polymer composite) core, which is 100 percent waterproof. The plank will not swell, warp, or delaminate from water exposure, which makes Icons a valid choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms, basements, and any other room where moisture is a real consideration. The waterproof performance is covered by the residential warranty for the life of the original installation.
What is the warranty on Longboards Icons?
Limited Lifetime Residential. The residential warranty covers manufacturing defects, wear-through of the design layer, and waterproof performance for as long as the original purchaser owns the home. Combined with the 22 mil commercial-grade wear layer and the WPC waterproof core, that puts Icons among the most warranty-backed luxury vinyl programs on the market.
Who is Longboards Icons designed for?
Homeowners doing a renovation where the floor matters as a design decision - primary suites, whole-home rebuilds, high-end coastal new builds, and any project where the brief is to get as close to wide-plank engineered hardwood as the vinyl category currently allows. Icons is also the right call for active households (pets, kids, rolling chairs) that want the durability and waterproof performance of vinyl without compromising on how the floor reads visually. If the project demands a floor that looks like real wood at close range and behaves like vinyl underfoot, Icons is built for it.
